MPG’s director Isabelle Chopin presents 2021 – 2022 Activities Report
Over the past two years, we have made strong progress in advancing evidence-based policies on migration, integration, and anti-discrimination. In our 2021 – 2022 Activities Report you’ll learn about how we have contributed to changing the narrative through our 21 projects in over 60 countries, in collaboration with over 300 different partners, leading to nearly 80 publications and reaching 2.6 million people online.
In the years ahead we will continue to produce solid, comparative research to feed into evidence-based policies that protect the freedoms and rights of people on the move. We will also continue to turn our insights into action by mobilising stakeholders, building networks, and conducting pilot initiatives. This is the gap MPG fills — and will continue to fill — in civil society.

This month MPG welcomes two great additions to the team! Stefano Deodati joined MPG as a Junior Policy Analyst to contribute to new projects in the field of political participation, return migration and migrant integration, such as the New Europeans Initiative and the FAIR Project. Stefano’s work consists of data, legal and policy analysis, and comparative and qualitative research.
As our new head of research, Dr. Başak Yavcan is responsible for all of MPG’s research activities and research agenda development. She conducts comparative analyses of migration and integration statistics and policies at the national and local level.
The citation list for MIPEX grows! This month we add 2 notable new articles to the list that reference MPG's flagship project. The Migrant Integration Policy Index is the leading reference tool to assess, compare and improve migrant integration policies!
Starting in May 2023 MPG will embark on a 3.5 year long project for 'Finding Agreement in Return'. Through funding from Horizon Europe, MPG will place non-EU actors' perspectives centre stage and analyse the perceived legitimacy and fairness of the EU return policies.
Similar to MPG's MIPEX, this project also aims to develop MIREX, a new Migrant Return Policy Index. To stay updated on the projects advancements follow us on social media and bookmark migpolgroup.com.
